I have been dealing with lower back pain for the past 10 years, receiving fairly regular chiropractic adjustments for about 7 years. I began getting massages at the Edmund Center, with Travis Sholar, approximately 2 and ½ months ago, with a notable increase in back mobility and decreased pain and stiffness. The massages have also helped with my chiropractic adjustments, in that my joints more easily re-align than prior to the addition of massage therapy.
I would like to highly recommend Travis. He has definitely helped me, and I plan to continue keeping massage a part of my treatment regimen as I manage my back pain

I had serious issues with Achilles Tendonitis for a 5 year period. I went to Orthopedists and podiatrists during this period with no positive results. As the last straw before surgery, Travis was recommended to me as one who might have a handle on the issue.
Over a period of months and a number of therapy sessions, the Achilles issue started subsiding and I now have no signs of the discomfort that was persistent for so long.
From my view, if you are patient, he can put you on a therapy program that will bring you back to your healthy self. I must say that patience is a sight better alternative to surgery and 6 months of rehab.

Thank you for helping give me back pain-free days and nights. It seems melodramatic but it’s true that your massage therapy has changed my life. I feel years younger and tremendously more optimistic than when I first walked into your office 2 years ago.
Here’s some history: In the early 1990s, after years of an active athletic life, my upper right back muscles started aching and eventually burning so that I seldom sat or lay down comfortably. A nagging discomfort permeated every aspect of my life. Over the years I stopped playing racquet sports, replaced jogging with walking, changed all activities that could possibly strain my upper back. The fear of exacerbating my back problem became embedded in every aspect of my life, and I was haunted by anxiety that the pain would never go away.
Fortunately, things began to improve in 2005 when I found a Charlotte soft tissue specialist who started the healing process. By mid-2006, I was much better but it was still a rare day if my back didn’t hurt. In addition, I awoke most nights, desperate to find a comfortable sleeping position; my husband dare not lay his arm across my torso lest he disturb what little sleep I had found.
Then I moved to Hickory and started using your massage therapy services every week or so. Travis, after a few months of your intense and focused massage therapy, I began to go a few days, then several days at a time without thinking about my back. Now, after 2 years, it’s been months since I’ve awakened at night with back pain. I seldom fidget to find a comfortable seating position. I’ve become so confident that I recently started – carefully – taking yoga and pilates classes and biking.
I feel free again! Free from ongoing pain. Free from constant worrying about not reinjuring my back. Free from feeling old and inactive and impotent to change that.
Will I continue using massage therapy now that I’m much improved? Yes, absolutely. My neck and back still get ultra tight and need knots worked out occasionally. And I’ll continue with monthly preventive massage therapy so I don’t return to the miserable state I was in 3 – 10 – 15 years ago.
Travis, I can’t fully express the physical and emotional relief you’ve given me. But I can say, “Thank you.”
